Judge Jennifer Fitzgerald is a native Memphian. Prior to being elected, Judge Fitzgerald served as a criminal defense attorney for nearly 15 years. Judge Fitzgerald is a 2000 graduate of Kirby High School. In 2004, she earned a degree in Criminology Cum Laude from Arkansas State University. After completing her undergraduate degree, she returned to Memphis to study law at the University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.  After graduating from law school in 2007, she worked in private practice in criminal law.  Also, Judge Fitzgerald worked as a contract attorney for the City of Memphis, where she represented the City of Memphis in prosecuting traffic and code violations. 

Judge Fitzgerald is currently an active member of the National Bar Association. She is actively involved in helping to improve the Memphis community. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she served as Chair of the Delta Gems Mentoring Program and Social Action Co-Chair. Also, she volunteered as a mentor for Girls, Inc., Tn Achieves, and the Shelby County Youth Court. She has raised thousands of dollars for St. Jude Children’s Hospital as a St. Jude Hero. Judge Fitzgerald is a former Board Member of the Downtown Boys and Girls Club.

 

On August 4, 2022, she was elected by the citizens of Shelby County for Judge in Criminal Court Division 2.
